Issues of cultural heritage protection were discussed between Azerbaijan and Ukraine

Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandeev and Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymour Mardaliyev met on December 7.

As AZERTAC reports, during the meeting the parties discussed the priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, in particular the protection of cultural heritage, expansion of international cultural ties.

Ambassador Seymur Mardaliyev emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

"One of our main goals is to develop and maintain a strategic partnership with Ukraine. Not only we announce it here, but we actively promote this idea internationally. We have concrete plans for the restoration of the cultural center in Irpen, and we are sure that next year there will be opportunities for the practical implementation of new projects and the creation of a foundation for cultural initiatives," the ambassador added.

Seymur Mardaliyev also noted that Azerbaijan is ready to hold joint cultural events.

Rostislav Karandeev thanked the government and people of Azerbaijan for the humanitarian support provided by Azerbaijan during the war and expressed interest in further development of cooperation in the field of culture. In particular, he noted the importance of joint work in the field of cultural heritage preservation.

"A very important aspect that we can successfully develop together with Azerbaijan is the protection of intangible cultural heritage. Traditions that have a deep meaning in Azerbaijan are extremely close to us. For our part, we try to protect our traditions by adding elements to the UNESCO lists. Expanding this list is the key to preserving our traditions," he said.
